Space Journey

25 March 2026 - 22 November 2026

In Space Journey, you take a look beyond planet Earth. You will see a selection of sculptures, videos and works on paper that explore our relationship with the universe and the cosmos. From floating between heaven and earth to extra-terrestrial life: in the exhibition, art and the cosmos come together.

Between heaven and Earth

Artists incorporate their fascination with the cosmos into their work in various ways. The mystery of infinity and the relationship of ‘our’ Earth to other planets is almost unfathomable. Everything that occurs between heaven and earth is also a source of inspiration for the artists in this exhibition.

New acquisition: Zinc Cloud

The presentation includes our new acquisition by Alan Saret: Zinc Cloud (1967, 1990), which is on display at the museum for the first time. This ‘ethereal’ cloud of steel mesh appears to rise up and detach itself from the earth. The works of Adam Colton and Cai Guo-Qiang refer to the origins of the universe, the creation of Earth and forms of life. You will also see work by Jean Arp, Panamarenko, Georges Vantongerloo, Otto Piene, Marinus Boezem and Hetty Huisman, among others.
